Kokos Story
May 22, 2025
On May 22nd, 2025 Koko was involved in a dog fight. I immediately knew something was wrong and we brought her to our Vets office. Unfortunately, our regular vet was out of the office, so we saw a different vet in the same office….He ASSURED me her jaw was not broken, that she probably pinched a nerve or tore a muscle… He gave her an anti-inflammatory and sent her home with instructions to keep her calm through the weekend. Then follow up on Tuesday. We went home, but I knew by her behavior, something was definitely wrong. So, we packed up and went to a different vet. The second vet was able to x-ray Koko and determined her Jaw was in fact broken. 💔 Koko was rushed into emergency surgery the following morning. They had to remove 5 teeth to access her jaw bones. From there she was splinted and taped. If she does well with the tape she will not have to have her mouth wired shut. HOPEFULLY she doesn’t take the tape off…again.
May 23rd
KOKO has Emergency Jaw Surgery.
May 24th
Koko has post surgery follow up to check dressing, get some fluids and get more pain meds.
May 27th (Day 5)
Koko is still not eating or drinking. So she gets more IV fluids.
